It’s time to sign up for email threat protection

No business owner wants their company to be compromised; whether that is a physical break-in or a virtual cyber-attack, we all want to keep our data and systems safe. That’s why it’s extremely concerning that the majority of cyber-attacks begin with an innocuous email landing in our inbox.

In an examination of thousands of security incidents, Verizon in March earlier this year confirmed that almost all malware arrived on computers via email: this was true in 94% of cases
There is an increasing tendency for cyber-attackers to use phishing and impersonating emails, smattered with malware to manipulate users to hand over passwords and logins, which enable access to your vital documents.

It’s amazing how genuine some of their emails can be. In the latest Cyber Security Breaches Survey, the UK Government found that 4 in 10 businesses had reported a cybersecurity breach in the last 12 months. So, how do you protect your company from an email initiated cyber breach? Email Threat Protection.

What is Email Threat Protection?

Email Threat Protection does exactly what it says, it picks up and recognises email threats before they reach your inbox, and then it quarantines them. It does it by using clever technology to recognise potential threats and patterns, but you can also set up blocks from countries, senders, and with certain subject lines.

Alongside blocking unwanted messages from your inbox, it also keeps your system free from adware, spyware, malware, and viruses by placing them in quarantine before they reach your device.

The system offers a multi-layered approach, analysing multiple email characteristics and scanning the content for target phrases. By using continued analysis, the programme ensures that only legitimate emails will reach your inbox.

As well as knowing that your inbox is protected from threats, phishing, and spam, you’ll also receive regular, meaningful reports that let you know when threats have been blocked, and there is a visual caution on potential spoof emails to warn you to be extra careful.

What if an important email gets caught in quarantine?

While the Email Threat Protection system stops emails from arriving on your device, it doesn’t delete them. Instead, it stores them in quarantine and sends you reports, at customisable intervals, these Quarantined Message Report to update you on any missed threats. This allows you to view the emails and release any that aren’t infected to your inbox.

Is it difficult to set up?

No. In fact, all you need to do is let us know that you would like to use the service. We’ll arrange a start date, set up your threat protection portal and show you how you and your team can use it. It’s as simple as that to provide another layer of protection to your system.

“To err is human, to forgive divine”, and while we’re less than likely to forgive cybercriminals for wanting to steal our personal details and hack our systems, it is possible for us to all make mistakes. 80% of breaches and cyberattacks are caused by someone clicking on a link in a phishing email or being directed to a fake website.
