Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 lifecycle ending

Here’s a heads up! Windows 7 & Windows Server 2008 R2 lifecycle is coming to an end.

We have customers of all sizes and budgets and want to give you as much warning and preparation time as possible so that you can schedule any required works over a longer period. By enabling you to plan your budgets well in advance, it will reduce any sudden and unexpected financial impacts on your business.

What’s happening?

Windows 7 & Windows 2008 R2, which are systems that you might be currently using, will no longer be supported by Microsoft.

January 14th 2020 (that sounds like a far-off date, but trust us, it isn’t).

What does that mean?

It means Microsoft will no longer send any security patches out for these products. If your business is using either or both of these products, this means that your system won’t be properly protected anymore and that you could be hacked or suffer a security breach.

What’s the impact?

All machines running on Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2 will be more vulnerable to Hackers as there will be no means to patch vulnerabilities, leaving you open to a security breach. An example of this is the NHS network that was compromised after the Windows XP Operating System reached its end of life.

What’s the Risk?

Aside from leaving your IT infrastructure open to attack, your business could be at risk of data breaches and non-compliance with GDPR and Cybersecurity best practice. The potential costs could far outweigh the price of employing an expert team to help you.

What can we do?

Speak to us and we can provide you with a free Hardware and Software Health Audit of your entire IT Estate. Our free audit report will: - identify missing patches - identify antivirus and security issues - provide an inventory of your IT Hardware - provide an inventory of your Software - provide a manufacturer’s warranty report We can then recommend a phased course of action over the coming 12 months to ensure your network and equipment is not at any identifiable risk from either this end of lifecycle process or any other issues highlighted in the Free Audit. Additionally, we can also assist you with your CyberSecurity, ensuring that your systems are compliant, up to date and adequately protected.
