Located in Kent, and started back in 1997, Kent MSS are a full medical secretarial and practice management service, which incorporates all areas of accountancy and administration for medical consultants throughout the UK.

As a fully managed client of LP Networks, we have an in-depth discussion with Kent MSS about their roadmap, and the inclusion of these Cyber security elements are just part of their journey. 

The Requirements

As their Kent IT support, we worked closely with Kent MSS through a roadmap of IT Support. This included the enhancement of their present IT infrastructure, and their cyber security strategy. In this case study, we will outline just some of the Kent IT support we provided.

The Solution

To provide the enhancements to Kent MSS’s present IT infrastructure, we discussed with our client the following:

1. Hardware Lifecycle Strategy

We recommended that once a machine or device is over 4 years old, that we would recommend a reresh to ensure a balance between performance and investment. 

2. Email Archiving

Email archiving is to preserve and make searchable all email to/from an individual. It is a systematic approach to saving & protecting data contained in emails to enable fast retrieval. This plays a vital role in companies that prioritise data compliance and subject requests.

3. Password Management Tool

A password management tool is software created to enhance and simplify the security of managing passwords, including storage and organisation, across various online accounts and across devices used for business purposes.

With a password management tool, team members at Kent MSS will only require one master password which will then allow them to, amongst other things:

• Create unique and strong passwords
• Automate the process of entering and retrieving passwords
• Reduce the risk of breaches due to weak passwords

The password management tool LP Networks has integrated into the Kent MSS IT infrastructure, will also contribute significantly to online security by promoting a strong password culture throughout the organisation.

4. Mobile Device Management

Mobile Device Management (MDM) is a way of administering and controlling how mobile devices, such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets are used by team members within Kent MSS’s network.

This type of software plays a crucial role in safeguarding sensitive data, maintaining device compliance, and streamlining overall management of mobile devices across the organisation, whilst users are in or out of the office.

The MDM software we’ve integrated into Kent MSS’s IT infrastructure allows administrators to:

• Manage, secure and monitor mobile devices across the organization.
• Remotely configure device settings, and enforce security policies and distribution of applications.
• Make sure devices used throughout the organisation adhere to the organisations security protocols, such as encryption. 

The Benefits of Cyber Essentials Certification

As we are an Auditor for Cyber Essentials and IASME, we consulted directly with Kent MSS as part of their Kent IT Support package to gain their Cyber Essentials accreditation. This is a government backed scheme designed to provide up-to-date advice and training on preventing cyber attacks.

By acquiring Cyber Essentials certification, through the guidance provided by LP Networks as a consultancy through the accreditation process, Kent MSS will gain the following benefits:
